Kearney Construction Company – History
The Kearney Companies was formed in 2009 by Chase Kearney. Chase has been involved in site development namely through the family site development business started by his grandfather, Charles "Wes" Kearney in the 1950s. Over the years, Chase has worked in all parts of the business from analyzing and managing family real estate to reviewing company purchasing, estimating, accounting and business development. He was a heavy equipment operator and his construction experience goes back to tying steel for use in concrete forms at the age of 10. While attending University of Tampa, he worked as a project manager at Westshore Consulting from 2002 – 2005. After graduating with a finance degree, he officially joined the family business in 2005.
Kearney first made a name for itself as a small earthmoving company in the early fifties. Prior to entering the construction business, Wes Kearney, founder of KCC worked for a leading boiler plant manufacturer that required him to travel extensively. Not wanting to leave his wife Joanne home alone with their three young sons, Bryan, Bing and Barry, Wes Kearney quit his job. That same day he purchased his first bulldozer and on that day began what would become the Kearney family of companies.
Wes Kearney wasn't a stranger to hard work and dedicated himself to long hours each day and often six and seven day workweeks. Wife Joanne worked along side him handling the invoicing and company paperwork. As people of great integrity combined with a strong work ethic, Wes and Joanne built their companies and established long lasting relationships throughout the community.
